AFTER more than two years the missing link, a 200m stretch of the 4km Persiaran Serdang Perdana is finally completed.
However, the business community and residents of Seri Kembangan will have to wait for another month for the Projek Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan (PLUS) and the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) to approve a 20m connection to the highway.
Teo: The stretch completes the access road
The toll-free access to the city and beyond, starting at the junction of South City Plaza and running parallel with the KL-Seremban Highway was launched by Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching last Saturday.
It offered an alternative for people who are forced to travel through the often congested Seri Kembangan town.
“The stretch completes the access road and it is also easier for people travelling along the Bukit Jalil Highway to get to Puchong, Kuala Lumpur and Shah Alam,’’ Teo said.
The new road costing RM6mil will run from the South City Plaza to the back of Mint Hotel and link with the highway.
The new link is expected to ease traffic congestion in Seri Kembangan by dispersing part of the traffic volume.
Before the link road was opened, the only toll-free access to the city for the motorists was through the busy Serdang Raya.
Persiaran Serdang Perdana is divided into seven sections and the alternative road project linking Sections 1,2 and 7 was completed earlier but hit a snag when authorities failed to settle a land issue with the landowners.
